COVID 19
AMENDMENT OF RESTRICTIONS REGARDING ACCESS TO SHELLY BEACH HOSPITAL
We wish to extend our gratitude to our patients and relatives of our patients, for their co-operation and understanding of our need to drastically reduce the access and flow of visitors through the hospital.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to those who understood that we were attempting to act in the interest of themselves, their loved ones’ and our personnel.
In line with the recent announcements of President Cyril Ramaphosa and the general trend to easing of restrictions in our country, the Covid 19 response team have recommended that Management ease restrictions on access to the facility. The recommendations made with full cognisance of the fact that COVID 19 infections in various parts of the country still occur and that we may well be forced to reconsider these decisions, in the near future.
The amended policy is as follows:
1. Company representatives are granted access to the Hospital Pharmacy and Operating Suite.
2. General Wards. One designated (named) visitor per patient, per day, from 1500 to 1530 in the following units:
• Medical Ward (4th floor).
• Surgical Ward (3rd floor).
• Paediatric Ward ( 2nd floor).
3. Maternity Ward (1st floor).
• Fathers are welcome to be part of the delivery of their child and to stay 2 hours post-delivery subject to a negative COVID test not older than 72 hours T&C’s apply.
• During the post-natal period one visitor per patient per day is permitted if the father is not present, limited to 30mins.
4. Critical Care units (NICU, SICU, MICU).
• Access will be granted to the next of kin, one visitor per from 15:00 to 15:30, at the discretion of the treating Medical Practitioner, in consultation with Management.
Management remain subordinate to the National Institute of Occupational Health and Safety (NIOH&S) requirements. Management must provide evidence that all entrants to the hospital have been educated regarding COVID 19 precautions and have been screened for symptoms of the infection.
In order to ensure compliance with NIOH&S requirements, visitors are requested to arrive at the hospital at least 15 minutes before visiting, to undergo the necessary orientation and induction.
We apologise for any inconvenience and look forward to your co-operation.
