Dr Taks Singh

Dr Taks Singh is a trusted and dedicated general practitioner with a long history of patients and community work within the South Coast, that has cemented him as an integral member of this beautiful seaside town.

Having qualified as a medical doctor at the University of Natal in 1982, Dr Singh then grew his experience with an internship at King Edward Hospital. It was here that he then started his surgical specialist training where he became proficient in surgical skills, trauma as well as obstetrics and gynaecology.

His passion for people and their general healthcare, led him away from a pure surgical path as he realised he would be best in a more holistic form of medicine.  It was then that Dr Singh moved to Port Shepstone where he started his General Practice back in 1986. Over the past 32 years Dr Singh has grown a formidable private practice where the people he helps and the lives he touches brings him the greatest pleasure.

His wish to provide a complete holistic healthcare is noted in his multidisciplinary approach covering different aspects of medicine including general medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology. Outside of his own practice, Dr Singh has played a large part in community health with previous part time work at Port Shepstone Hospital and Murchison Hospital, many years as a UGU district surgeon, a medical referee for the coastal crematoriums as well as running of the geriatric centre at the Marburg Clinic.

Within his own practice, Dr Singh has ensured he grow his skill set by providing services such as minor surgical procedures, ultrasound, ECG and cardiac stress testing. He has ensured that he remains up to date with the latest medical developments and treatment protocols by regular visits to various medical conferences and courses. Dr Singh has also obtained his GCP for clinical research involvement, the BLS, ATLS and PALS certificates as well as the completion of various HIV and TB courses.
