Dr Avani Singh

After working in the rural town of Harding followed by time at Addington Hospital, she knew she had found her true calling. She then began her specialist training as a member of The Department of Internal Medicine at UKZN, after which she relocated to Johannesburg to complete her specialist training at Wits University and obtain her Fellowship with the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa. The privilege of working in major centres allowed Dr Singh greater exposure to a wealth of knowledge at major academic centres and work scenarios across the South African public health sector. Dr Singh had the opportunity to work in various sub-speciality departments (including Endocrinology, Respiratory, Cardiology and Nephrology) as well as ICU, transplant and general medical settings – finding her niche in the latter. Her interest in TB and ICU care led to her completing her Masters in Medicine by analyzing the outcomes of patients admitted to ICU with TB and HIV. As a specialist, Dr Singh has thus far been working at the Netcare Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg.

Dr Singh is a proud member of the South Coast community and looks forward to returning to her hometown to share her expertise and join the Shelly Beach Hospital team in providing state of the art healthcare to our beautiful part of the world.
